Tips & techinque: have fun with chipboard

Hi everyone Sharon with you today.  I just want to show you a little trick I used on some of the chipboard embellishments that I used on this layout of my granddaughter and some friends.  The chipboard stars circle is from Creative Embellishments.  I used a gold Cricut marker and colored the stars.  Then after I did that I used some Bo Bunny gold glitter paste and added it to some of the stars too.

I found a card chipboard in my stash (don't know what company) and colored it with a Viva pearl pen in red.  I also used the pearl red on the cricut cut "look whoos here" along with some more of the Bo Bunny gold paste.  Black and gold cardstock from my stash and the rest of the paper is from Simple
Stories Say Cheese Collection as are the brads.  I used my cricut to cut the film strips and the circle along with the title.  I used a sketch by Leah Schaeffer from 2013

Now here is a picture of my layout.  Thanks for looking at it.  I was inspired by the rock song.  Every You Every Me.  It used the words you were heaven sent and my granddaughter is heaven sent.  She is so sweet and lovely to me.

There is still plenty of time to join us here.  Link up your project on the side bar before the end of the month.  You can find the details here for the challenges

Aya is with us today with a great tutorial: altered box

Aya has a great video tutorial planned for us today.   Please join us here for the current challenge.
We have a great couple of songs and you still have time to link up with us before the end of the month.  We have some great prizes to be won too. Have a look at the mid month reveal and join in with us:  Scrap It With A Song

Now, this is Aya's project:

This is an altered box: when I listened to the song, I come up with this, even me I didn't understand why exactly... But then I noticed that in the lyrics it says "a box I choose.
No other box I choose to use"...  When I hear a song sometimes my mind just do something else, so
it seems I took a word and turned it to a project!

Check out Aya's video tutorial on how to make this gorgeous, stunning altered box:

January Mid-Month Reveal

Now it's time to see what the second half of the design team has done. We have these wonderful songs for your inspiration. Listen to the rock song and the pop song and choose one or both and make a layout based on anything the song inspires you to do. Use the song in any way that it inspires you to create a project.  It can be any thing from the title to the way the music makes you feel or even the way the video makes you feel.  Just tell us how the song inspired you.  You may enter several different projects just link up to the linky tool at the top right with a separate link for each project.  It can be a digital creation as well.  You have two prizes that can be won. (If we get enough entries) These will be chosen by random by the linky tool.  The team will choose a project and that designer will be asked to be a guest designer in future.  I hope you will join us this month.

Let's see what the second half of the design team did with the songs:

Melody
The song Honeymoon made me want to scrap pictures of when my husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. He totally surprised me with a much-anticipated, first-ever 'honeymoon' getaway to Dallas and then to Maryland. I gave him the new wedding band in the picture and he is holding the James Avery charm bracelet he got for me for you special silver celebration of marriage. I have also been wanting to scrap using some foil papers I picked up at Hobby Lobby, so I began this layout with the feather background and implemented some winter-y snowflakes because our anniversary is at the beginning of December.  Hope you like it! There is another page that goes with this layout and I will post some of the processes I used on my blog soon-feel free to jump over and visit!! http://impressionsbymelody.blogspot.com/

The song seems very dreamy/melancholy to me.  The lyrics had the word dream in it so that is the inspiration I took from the song.  My granddaughter looked like she was day dreaming in this photo.  I used paper from my stash and used some colorbox ink along with creative embellishments chipboard.  I used two different embossing powders on all of the chipboard.

Are you ready to play with us? Well, let's talk about prizes:
  • If we have at least 8 entries in the challenge there will be a random prize:  a voucher of €7 kindly donated by our permanent sponsor: Avec les mains
