October video tutorial

Hello to all! It's me Maya here with a video tutorial of my mixed media card "Dark Elegance" for you!

I'm on the rock team, and our October song is "Dark Necessities" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. You can see more song interpretations from our DT members on the October 1st reveal and the mid-month reveal. Like the lyrics mentioned on the song, "Dark necessities are part of my design", I used black and purple color to interpret the mysterious feeling as felt in the song.

Here are some more close ups.

Also, this is the how-to video of how I created the card. Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you gained some inspiration from my video and our team reveals. There are still two weeks to enter our October challenge. Come to join for some fun and prizes! Looking forward to discovering your takes. : )

Photographing your layout easily

Hi ! Caroline today on the blog. Today I'm giving you a few tips how to easily take the picture of your layout with an iPhone. There is no need of special equipment and fancy set-up to have a nice picture of your project. Here what I do.

With all the mixed media technique and watercolour effect sometime the corner of my page riffle a little bit. When it happen I use non permanent tape and stick my LO on a bigger surface, today I used a "pizza" box I just receive from my favourite scrapbook store full of goodies.

After I bring my set-up to the place when I have the most sun, most of the time I go in my sunroom, the more natural light, the better it is. I put my LO not directly in the sun to avoid shadow and on the floor, I found that this angle make the better photo. After I put my photo setting on Square (carré) so I don"t have top crop it after and I take a few shot.

After I use an app, ColorStory, to edit easily my picture, this app is really user-friendly. There is a lot of pre-made filter to adjust your photo. You can also crop if your need to. There is many other app available for little price.

and voilĂ  my photo is ready to go online !

July video tutorial

Hello everybody, Khristina here with a new video tutorial for you.

I am on the rock team (you can see my rock song interpretation here on 1st July reveal) but I was really inspired by the pop song too, so this is a project inspired by Lukas Graham - "7 Years"

Here it is the process video: Once I Was Seven Years Old

I wanted to create a fun and colorful layout for my son who is seven years old right now. I worked with patterned paper from the Scoot collection by Deena Rutter for Echo Park and the added bonus was almost everything I used came out of my scraps from other projects!

Thanks for popping by today, I hope that I have inspired you! I can't wait to see what you create based upon the rock and pop songs this month.

Art Journal with Marie - Christine

Hello everyone!

I would like to share with you a special Art Journal page that I made with the title of May pop song.
I have many Art Journals, this one is a large share format.

As background I used a photographic paper from  Paper House "wedding kit".
I printed and pasted a vintage image found on Pinterest.
Finally, I painted with paint dylusions, some large flowers,  hearts on the top and other decoration.

It is very simple to do!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Inspiration also come from these lyrics: "she holds her head so high, like a statue in the sky
Her arms are wicked, and her legs are long"

Check out my video tutorial on how to make this gorgeous mixed media canvas:

Please join us for the current challenge.

"Dreams really do come true" layout inspired by February pop song + tutorial

Hi lovely SIWAS follower, Giorgia is with you today.
I am on rock DT, but I loved the pop song of this month, so I also made a layout using it as inspiration:

Can you guess how the song inspired me?! Hello, it's me!
This is me getting ready on my wedding day, talking to my LOVE on the phone: it was raining like crazy, we should have an outdoor wedding... it were crazy hours!! Luckily it stopped rainy and we could have our fab ceremony!

I used amazing The Robin's Nest products - I have the chance to be on their DT and I LOVE their products range: amazing glitter cardstock and papers, dew drops (a great alternative to enamel dots, pearls or sequins) and archival seeds.
They offer great and peculiar items, I hope you will take a look on their shop.
Here you can find the tutorial for this layout and close up pictures.

I hope to have inspired you to play along with our challenges: we have great prizes waiting for you! All details can be found here.

Tips & techinque: have fun with chipboard

Hi everyone Sharon with you today.  I just want to show you a little trick I used on some of the chipboard embellishments that I used on this layout of my granddaughter and some friends.  The chipboard stars circle is from Creative Embellishments.  I used a gold Cricut marker and colored the stars.  Then after I did that I used some Bo Bunny gold glitter paste and added it to some of the stars too.

I found a card chipboard in my stash (don't know what company) and colored it with a Viva pearl pen in red.  I also used the pearl red on the cricut cut "look whoos here" along with some more of the Bo Bunny gold paste.  Black and gold cardstock from my stash and the rest of the paper is from Simple
Stories Say Cheese Collection as are the brads.  I used my cricut to cut the film strips and the circle along with the title.  I used a sketch by Leah Schaeffer from 2013

Now here is a picture of my layout.  Thanks for looking at it.  I was inspired by the rock song.  Every You Every Me.  It used the words you were heaven sent and my granddaughter is heaven sent.  She is so sweet and lovely to me.

There is still plenty of time to join us here.  Link up your project on the side bar before the end of the month.  You can find the details here for the challenges

Aya is with us today with a great tutorial: altered box

Aya has a great video tutorial planned for us today.   Please join us here for the current challenge.
We have a great couple of songs and you still have time to link up with us before the end of the month.  We have some great prizes to be won too. Have a look at the mid month reveal and join in with us:  Scrap It With A Song

Now, this is Aya's project:

This is an altered box: when I listened to the song, I come up with this, even me I didn't understand why exactly... But then I noticed that in the lyrics it says "a box I choose.
No other box I choose to use"...  When I hear a song sometimes my mind just do something else, so
it seems I took a word and turned it to a project!

Check out Aya's video tutorial on how to make this gorgeous, stunning altered box:

A little more inspiration from Monia using "Avec Les Mains" printables

It is December already!  Can you believe it?  I for one am not ready for that!!!
Monia is here today to inspire us with a project using the printables from Avec Les Mains.  They are a French Store dealing in digital images for not only scrapbooking but other genres as well.  Check out their website and look at all the wonderful digi papers etc, that are available.  Here is a link to their store:  http://www.aveclesmains.fr/

Now here is Monia with her project.

This is a little tutorial to show how I used the beautiful sponsor's paper from Avec Les MainsI start pouring distress paint on plastic block and spray water to mix the colour
(okay, the stamp block too... same here)

Add the same colour to wood chipboard (if you want add some glitter..)

Press the block on paper and let dry

Add texture stamp randomly as you like (different colour)

With a stencil add some white gesso (i love it!)

the result:

With a sponge apply lightly the same ink you used for the stamps, for the circles I used the cap of a jar

With the spray create small droplets where you want and let dry

Yay! Looks so good now! We're not finished yet ...
Finally add the fabulous Avec Les Mains papers

add photo and some details...

project finished!!!

If we have at least 7 entries this month you can win a 7 euros voucher from Avec Les Mains.
We are sure you will love their printables as much as we do!

A little more inspiration from Tynke

Hello everybody,

Here's Tynke, back again from holiday. For this month, I prepared a photo-tutorial to show you how I made this layout.

I used the printables from our great sponsor Avec les Mains for it. Before we start, I want to tell you that I can only scrap in the evening, so that declares that the colors may be a little different..

But let me start.

First I started with light blue cardstock.

I used this printable paper (grey wood) from Avec les Mains. I torned it a little bit.

I added some dictionary pages, I pasted it also a little bit wrinkled and torn

With a stamp and the white distress stain I made some dots on the paper

I used some brusho (turquoise and ultra marine) on it, then I sprayed it with water. It's important that you are a little careful here with the brusho and water, because it can change the colors of the printables! When I dried it with a heat tool, I made some structure with a mask and modeling paste. Then I stamped a little bit with Stazon (Stone Gray, Teal blue and Ultra Marine)

With a distress-tool I made the edges of the papers from Avec les Mains a little bit rough. I inked them with stazon.

Next I added the papers and my picture on the Layout

I inked the corners a little bit, and added the title with little alphabets and thickers

At last, I added some washi tape and embellishments. I used some flowers, roses, charms, foam clay and dew drops.

And this is the result! I made a combination of both songs in the Title, "It's a nice day" from White Wedding by Billy Idol and the Title 'Relax' by Mika.

Materials I used:

Design paper printables by Avec les Mains
Light blue cardstock
Dictionary pages
Distress Stain white
Stamps
Brusho Turquoise and Ultra-Marine
Stazon Ultra Marine, Teal Blue and Stone Gray
Mask
Modeling paste
Distress-tool
Washi tape
Alphabeths ands thickers
Charms
Flowers and roses
Glitter Foam Clay
Dew drops
Posca black

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and to have inspired you to play with us at our current challenges:
you can win this lovely RAK from our DT member Marie-Christine

And, if we have 10 entries or more we also give away a voucher of €7 from Avec les Mains, so you can choose from over 170 printables yourself! How cool is that?

Good luck!
